Located right next to the Space Needle is the exciting Museum of Pop Culture. MoPop is home to several exhibits all dedicated to the rich history of the music and film industries. View original costumes from timeless films such as The Wizard of Oz or The Terminator and too many more to count. Kids will have a blast in the sound booths filled with instruments and microphones that they are welcome to use. Also not to miss is the Lombardi Trophy from the Seattle Seahawks 2013 Superbowl run. The Museum of Pop Culture offers fun for the whole family and is a great way to spend an hour or two before the game.
Built in 1962 for the World's Fair, the Space Needle is the most iconic landmark of Seattle and recognized all around the world. Once you arrive, an elevator will carry you to the rotating observatory deck that offers tremendous views of the Puget Sound, Seattle, and Mount Rainier. You may even opt to have lunch in the SkyCity cafe before your descend back to the streets below.
To capture the true spirit of Seattle, Pikes Place Market is a must when visiting downtown. The Market first opened more than 100 years ago and to this day is a center of culture and comsumerism. With multiple floors of shops and stands, you are sure to find a souvenier to bring home from your trip. At Pikes Place fish market, catch a glimpse of the fish tossing that has become a familiar sight on many television programs. Don't worry, your catchers mitt isn't required as the employees will do all the fish throwing and catching for you.
